I made a series of hypothetical book covers of songs I've been listening to. I wanted to capture the essence and feel of the music through these covers by considering its lyrics and overall mood and translating those ideas into a visual composition. This is a personal project made in June 2024.
Tools used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

HIppo Campus — warm glow

glass beach — classic j dies and goes to hell part 1

SlowBro — what's left is alright

flipturn — Goddamn

The Honeysticks & Ricky Montgomery — Out Like a Light

The Technicolors — Space Cadet

Peach Pit — Drips on a Wire

flipturn — August

Wallows — At the End of the Day
Objective
To create unique book covers/posters of songs, maintaining their essence while adding an extra emphasis on typography. I investigated how feelings from audio can be translated into a visual medium.

Takeaways
Translating a concept or idea across different sensory mediums (audio to visual) is a difficult task. I had fun exploring different ways of incorporating typography with art, layering them with each other to provide a unique look. This was also a good project to practice my technical skills with Photoshop and Illustrator as well, especially by experimenting with the different ways to do masking and photo manipulation.
